At the Psychology Center of Hawaii in Honolul, we provide comprehensive neuropsychological, cognitive, emotional and behavioral evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Our warm, professional team is dedicated to helping you get answers and chart a path forward.
Neuropsychological testing explains how the brain affects learning, attention, memory, emotion, and behavior and provides a clear picture using standardized, evidence-based tools administered in person by licensed psychologists.
Understand cognitive skills (memory, attention, problem-solving) and highlight areas of giftedness or challenge. (e.g., verbal vs procedural IQ)
Pinpoint whether struggles are due to attention issues, learning styles, emotional factors, or neurological causes. This clarity leads to more accurate diagnoses and effective support.
ADHD, Autism, PTSD can all have overlapping symptoms. Our testing, interviews and expertise will help you finally get answers from a licensed medical professional regarding these diagnostic questions.
Get tailored recommendations for school, work, or home. Such as academic accommodations, therapy strategies, or lifestyle changes. Evidence-based answers guided by the evaluation results.
Results help doctors and educators create targeted intervention plans and monitor progress over time.
Voluminous research indicates that getting assessed early (during times when the brain is still developing) can lead to significantly better outcomes in the future.
Gaining answers often brings relief. You’ll better understand yourself or your child, replacing uncertainty with a clear roadmap for improvement.

Our work is led by licensed psychologists Dr. Michael Reilly and Dr. Tolly Amaxopoulos who bring extensive experience in clinical assessment and advanced cognitive testing.
We focus exclusively on evaluation and clarity. Families and adults come to us when they want thoughtful answers, careful testing, and recommendations they can actually use.
Our practice is known for prompt scheduling, in-person testing, and clear, well-written reports, typically delivered within two weeks. We work closely with families, schools, and professionals across Hawaiʻi to ensure results are understood and actionable.
Dr. Reilly has advanced training in cognitive and personality assessment and is known for his thorough, balanced evaluations. He works closely with families to translate complex testing results into practical recommendations.
Dr. Amaxopoulos specializes in psychological and neuropsychological assessment for children and adults, with a focus on attention, learning, and developmental concerns. He brings extensive experience working with schools, families, and healthcare providers across Hawaiʻi to deliver clear, actionable recommendations.
We follow a clear, step-by-step process to ensure thoroughness and comfort at every stage. Each assessment is tailored to the client; however, this is a typical format:
We begin with a conversation (in-person or via telehealth) to understand concerns, questions and goals.
An interview with the client, and parents (depending on age) to get a complete picture of your clinical history and present functioning.
On testing day, you or your child will complete a series of cognitive and psychological tests. This typically lasts 4–8 hours split into 1–2 sessions, with breaks as needed to stay fresh.
Oftentimes, further diagnostic surveys will be sent to clients, parents (and teachers when appropriate).
We offer qEEG brain mapping – a safe, non-invasive scan that measures brainwave activity. This high-tech option can provide additional insights into brain activity, attention and processing. Although optional, it provides great clarity into brain functioning to include in the overall assessment.
After testing, our team analyzes the results. We integrate findings into a clear, research-based, & detailed report with explanations of scores and practical recommendations along with diagnoses if appropriate.
Finally, we meet for a feedback session to discuss the results face-to-face. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions as we review personalized recommendations and next steps.
Our process is designed to be thorough and efficient without sacrificing personal touch. We know your time is valuable, evening and weekend appointments are available. We strive to deliver reports promptly so you get answers as soon as possible.
